Ben Dixon is a middle-aged man who owns a gold mine. He falls for a young society girl who breaks off the relationship with him because she cannot cope with his rude manners. Discouraged, Dixon goes down to the river bank. There he happens to meet a woman who is trying to take her own life there. He saves her and gives her new courage to live. This experience now helps Dixon cope with the loss of his love.
