Executive summary
The Executive Summary (German about Summary for Policymakers ) describes a summary or brief description of a longer report and has in different areas somewhat varying meanings.
Executive summary of a business plan
The executive summary is a brief description of the business idea , the organization of the planned company , the market situation, the market entry strategy and the planned financing, which is preceded by a business plan and gives the reader in a hurry a condensed summary of the essential contents of the business plan. It should be written factually, but also sound interesting so that there is interest in the business idea. In German, the term can be roughly translated as “summary for management”; however, the English loan word is more common. The main task of the executive summary is to arouse the interest of a ( venture ) capital provider in the business plan and the underlying business model and is therefore one of the most important sections of the business plan. In written form, the executive summary fulfills the same function as the so-called (oral) elevator pitch .
