Mandoza

Mduduzi Edmund Tshabalala (born January 19, 1978 in Soweto , South Africa ; † September 18, 2016 in Johannesburg ), known under the stage name Mandoza , was one of the best-known representatives of South African Kwaito music. He had his musical breakthrough in 2000 with the album Nkalakatha , which achieved multi-platinum status in South Africa and whose title track of the same name topped the charts.

In 2001 he won the South African Music Awards in the Song of the Year and Best Kwaito Album categories and the Kora All Africa Music Award in the Best Artist - Southern Africa category .

Mandoza had had a brain tumor since 2015 . On September 10, 2016 he gave his last concert at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto. Six days later he died in a Johannesburg hospital. He left behind his wife and three sons. Mandoza was buried in West Park Cemetery in Johannesburg.
