Mandy Niklaus

Mandy Niklaus (born March 1, 1956 in Dresden ; born Mandy Dick ) is a former German foil fencer .

Niklaus attended school in Dresden and then trained as a qualified sports teacher at the German University for Physical Culture . She fought for SC Einheit Dresden and SC Dynamo Berlin and between 1976 and 1983 was four times GDR champion in foil.

At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow , Niklaus took eighth place with the foil team. In 1982 she won the world championship in Rome with bronze in individual foil, the first ever world championship medal for the GDR in fencing.

Her son André Niklaus is a decathlete.
