Manfred Biskup

Manfred Biskup (* 1936 in Riedlingsdorf ; † November 27, 2010 in Berlin ) was an Austrian dramaturge .

Life

After graduating from the commercial academy in Oberwart , Biskup studied business administration at the Vienna University of World Trade and was also managing director of the Atrium discotheque. After he met the native English choreographer Liz King , he went to England and taught at a high school there. He later studied social and cultural anthropology at the University of Leuven in Belgium. He then worked for the International Social Science Research Council (ISSC) in Vienna, carried out research assignments for UNESCO and was a lecturer at the University of Vienna .

In 1982 he was a co-founder of the “TanztheaterWien”. In 1985 he finished his work at the ISSC and devoted himself exclusively to the dramaturgy at the TanztheaterWien, later also at the Theater der Stadt Heidelberg and the Volksoper Wien . In 2006 he founded “Dance Identity” (D.ID) with Liz King in Pinkafeld , an international platform for contemporary dance and the first modern dance company in Burgenland .

Manfred Biskup was married and had one child.
