Pedro Cubero (* 1645 in El Frasno , Spain ; † approx. 1697 ) was a Spanish priest who was known for his travels around the world from 1670 to 1679.

Life

Pedro Cubero was born in the village of El Frasno near Calatayudin in the Spanish region of Aragon . He studied in Saragossa and Salamanca until he was ordained a priest in Saragossa and soon after went to Rome . In accordance with his missionary work, he made a trip to East Asia in 1670 . This led him further and further east around the world. The trip is significant because it was the first time in history that a significant portion of a circumnavigation of the world was traveled by land.

He traveled through Paris , Venice , Warsaw , Moscow , Istanbul , Astrakhan , Isfahan , Bandar Abbas , Surat , Goa , Colombo , Mylapore , Malacca , the Philippines , Beijing , Moluccas , Acapulco , Veracruz , Havana and finally Cádiz . He arrived in Madrid in January 1680 just in time to take part in the celebrations for the arrival of Maria Louisa of Orléans , wife of King Charles II of Spain .

His report Peregrinación del mundo (World Tour) on his adventures around the world, which he published in Madrid in 1680, is considered to be very objective and detailed.
