Manfred Eckstein (* 23. December 1936 in Erfurt ) is a German physician and politician of the CDU . From 1990 to 1994 he was a member of the Thuringian state parliament .

Eckstein studied medicine at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and received his doctorate there in 1961. There he also trained as an internist.

In 1971 he became head of the internal department at Schleiz Hospital . The PhD B followed in 1986 ( The Population Effective Program to Combat Cardiovascular Diseases and Other Chronic Noncommunicable Diseases in Schleiz: Results and Conclusions ). In 2002 he retired after 31 years of service.

From 1990 Eckstein was chairman of the association of leading hospital doctors in Thuringia and deputy chairman of the professional association of German internists.

From October 14, 1990 to October 15, 1994 he was a member of the Thuringian state parliament in its first electoral term .

From 1972 he was a member of the Goethe Society, which awarded him honorary membership in 2012.

For many years he was a great promoter of sport in Schleiz, and in 1973 he founded a team of doctors in Schleiz, from which the current HFC Schleiz emerged in 2004.

He is chairman of the senior advisory board of the city of Schleiz and an active member of the support associations of the Goetheschule and the grammar school Dr. Konrad Duden der Stadt, where he has supervised numerous seminar groups there for years.

He is the second chairman of the Schleiz History and Local History Association and is part of the "Dudenker" working group of this association, which in 2018 reopened the Konrad Duden Museum in the former Schleiz high school Rutheneum. His contributions appear regularly in the Saale-Orla district's home yearbook.

He is married and has two children.
