Manfred Feilmeier (born September 16, 1941 in Munich ) is a German actuary , computer scientist and entrepreneur.

Life

Feilmeier studied mathematics at the Technical University of Munich , where he did his doctorate and habilitation. From 1975 he held a chair at the Technical University of Braunschweig and was later director of the Institute for Computing Technology at the university. In particular, he researched parallel computers and was involved in founding the Parallel Computing Society . In 1985 he switched to business and from then on devoted himself to his company.

In 1980 Feilmeier and Michael Junker founded the company Prof. Dr. Feilmeier, Junker & Co., Institute for Economic and Insurance Mathematics GmbH was founded, which dealt in particular with the implementation of information technology at insurers and other financial service providers. In 1987 the company developed VWS Leben, a system for life insurance companies that could be sold as standard software. For a long time he headed the company as CEO, while gradually reducing his stake in the company that had meanwhile grown into a group. In February 2000, FJA AG went public in Germany. After acquiring Heubeck AG in 2003, he took over the chairmanship of the supervisory board. Two years later, he gave up the chairmanship of the company, now trading as FJH AG, and switched to the supervisory board, where he worked for almost two years.

From 1991 Feilmeier was a member of the board of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Versicherungsmathematik , between 1994 and 2011 he was on the board of the German Actuarial Association . Since 1985 he has been the organizer of the actuarial colloquium at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .
