Kanchan Rup ( Nepali कञ्चन रूप Kanchan Rup ) is a city ( municipality ) in the eastern Terai of Nepal in the Saptari district .
history
The city was created in 2014 by merging the Village Development Committees Badgama , Baramjhiya , Dharampur , Dhodhanpur , Jagatpur , Kanchanpur , Pipra Purba , Rupnagar and Theliya . The urban area at that time comprised 92.18 km².
In the course of the restructuring of the local level and the creation of the Gaunpalikas (rural communities) by merging and abolishing the Village Development Committees on March 10, 2017, the VDCs Bairawa , Kanchanpur and Badgama were incorporated. As a result, the city area grew to 117.34 km².
Residents
At the 2011 census, the VDCs that made up the city of Kanchan Rup had a population of 26,905. As a result of the incorporation in 2017, the population grew to 35,238.
