Shambhunath ( Nepali शम्भुनाथ Shambhunath ) is a city ( municipality ) in the eastern Terai of Nepal in the Saptari district .

The city was created in 2014 by merging the Village Development Committees Basbalpur , Bhangha , Khoksar Parbaha , Mohanpur , Rampur Jamuwa and Shambhunath . The urban area covers 95.49 km².

Residents

In the 2011 census, the VDCs, from which the city of Shambhunath emerged, had 30,207 inhabitants (14,334 of them male) in 5817 households.
