Manfred Jacobs (theologian)

Manfred Jacobs (born November 5, 1928 in Neustrelitz ; † 1994 ) was a German Protestant theologian .

Life

He studied in Hamburg and Erlangen and received his doctorate as Dr. theol. on August 19, 1959 with a thesis on the concept of the church with Johann Gerhard . In 1966 he also completed his habilitation in Hamburg with the work From Liberalism to Dialectical Theory . From 1966 to 1971 he was a private lecturer in modern church history at the University of Hamburg . In 1971 he followed the call to Münster for a professorship for Protestant theology and its didactics (focus on church history and denominational studies). His research focus was the 19th century. He was u. a. Editor of the series "Approaches to Church History".
