Manfred Jordan

Manfred Jordan (born October 13, 1929 in Cottbus , † December 12, 1996 in Wurzen ) was a German writer and screenwriter.

Life

Manfred Jordan was the son of an officer. He attended the humanistic high school in Cottbus until 1947 . In 1946 he was co-founder and director of the first youth theater of the FDJ in Cottbus and the cultural association for the democratic renewal of Germany in Cottbus. 1947 appointment as dramaturge, director and actor at the New Theater in Wurzen . From 1948 to 1949 he was editor of the dramaturgical sheets "Das Rampenlicht".

Since 1950 Manfred Jordan worked as a freelance writer. In 1951 he became a member of the “Young Authors” working group in Dresden. The head of the working group was the writer Rudolf Leonhard . In 1953 Manfred Jordan became a candidate for the GDR Writers' Association and in 1956 a member. From 1967 to 1976 he was a member of the board of the GDR Writers' Association, Leipzig district.

Manfred Jordan was non-party. From 1980 to 1987 Jordan was chairman of the Wurzen district leadership of the GDR cultural association . In 1987 he was made honorary chairman. He led several amateur theater groups and a workers' theater as well as circles of writing workers in Apolda , Bad Liebenwerda and Altenburg . Manfred Jordan achieved great merits by setting up and running the Club of Intelligence "Joachim Ringelnatz" Wurzen. Manfred Jordan wrote historical novels and short stories, funky essays and a television play about Giordano Bruno.

Honors

In 1956 Manfred Jordan won the children's and youth book competition of the Ministry of Culture of the GDR for the story between fame and hate . He was awarded the Johannes R. Becher Medal in silver and gold and received the plaque of honor from the city of Wurzen in 1970.
