Manfred Reimann (born April 14, 1928 in Höhr-Grenzhausen ) is a former German politician ( SPD ).

The trained machine fitter Reimann was a full-time trade union official from 1961. From 1969 he worked in Ludwigshafen am Rhein . In 1977 he became managing director of IG Chemie, Papier, Keramik .

politics

Reimann joined the SPD in 1957. From 1981 to 1983 he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament . Then he was a member of the German Bundestag until 1994 , where he was, among other things, regional group chairman within the SPD parliamentary group. In 1983 and 1987 he won the direct mandate in the constituency of Ludwigshafen u. a. against Chancellor Helmut Kohl (CDU), to whom he was defeated in 1990.

From 1994 he was a member of the city ​​council of Ludwigshafen am Rhein; in the local elections he had the best result of all candidates. After the CDU and SPD had agreed to work together on personnel and factual issues there in 2002, he accused the party leadership of having “personally enriched” himself, resigned from the SPD city council faction and formed his own faction with a representative of the Free Voters. After two party order procedures and one party exclusion procedure, Kurt Beck brokered the compromise that Reimann remained a member of the SPD, but no longer ran for the city council.
