history
The monastery was founded in 1201 by Constance , the Duchess of Brittany, who was buried there in September 1201 in the oratory of the monastery, and was settled by monks from Buzay Monastery . So it belonged to the filiation of the Clairvaux Primary Abbey . It was not until November 1224 that the monastery was consecrated by the Bishop of Nantes . In the 15th century the abbey reached the height of its importance. The abbey was partially destroyed in the French Revolution and the wars that followed in the Vendée .
