Manfred Rein

Manfred Rein (born December 19, 1948 in Dornbirn ; † April 22, 2016 in Feldkirch ) was a politician of the Austrian People's Party and President of the Vorarlberg Chamber of Commerce .

Life

After completing compulsory school in his hometown of Dornbirn, Rein attended the commercial school in Feldkirch . He then completed an apprenticeship as a paver and tiler , which he completed in 1971 with the final apprenticeship examination. In 1976 he passed the master's examination for paving and tiling and founded his own company in Dornbirn in 1980.

He was married and lived with his wife and a son and daughter in Dornbirn.

politics

Rein was initially a member of the Dornbirn city ​​council for the Austrian People's Party from 1980 to 1994 . From 1985 to 1994 he was also a city councilor in Dornbirn. From 1995 to the end of 2008 he was a regional councilor in the Vorarlberg regional government . In this he was responsible for general economic affairs (economic and transport policy), commercial law (commercial and water law), spatial planning and building law, housing subsidies, traffic law and road construction.

On November 20, 2008, Rein was appointed by the general assembly of the Vorarlberg Chamber of Commerce to succeed Kuno Riedmann, President of the Chamber of Commerce . His successor as regional councilor in the state government was Karlheinz Rüdisser . In the state parliament session on December 10, 2008, Rein resigned from his position as regional councilor and took up his new role as President of the Chamber of Commerce on the following day. He held the office until his death in 2016. In addition, he was most recently chairman of the Vorarlberg section of the ÖVP sub-organization Österreichischer Wirtschaftsbund .
