Manfred Rolf Langner

Manfred Rolf Langner (born February 10, 1958 in Wiesbaden ) is a German theater director and artistic director .

education and profession

After graduating from high school, Langner initially trained in the Hessian financial administration and then studied law at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . During his studies Langner worked for various television producers as a production manager and film manager. At the Staatstheater Darmstadt he interned as an assistant director and in 1993 went to the Grenzlandtheater Aachen as a dramaturge and director , of which he took over in 1994. From 2009 Langner was director of the theater in Stuttgart . Since the 2018/19 season he has been artistic director at the Trier Theater .

In addition to his permanent work at the theaters in Aachen and Stuttgart, Langner is a guest director at numerous theaters a. a. in Berlin, Tel Aviv, Dresden, Frankfurt, Cologne and Munich as well as for several touring theaters. He won several prizes, including a. with his productions of Rain Man , Ghetto or Das Boot . In November 2016, he announced that he would not extend his artistic directorship in Stuttgart beyond summer 2019. In September 2018 he became the new director of the Trier Theater .

Langner also works as an author and translator for theater plays from English or French.

The actress Kim Zarah Langner is his daughter.
