Manfred Scherrer
Manfred Scherrer (born May 6, 1940 in Neuwied ) is a former German politician ( SPD ).
Life
After attending commercial school, Scherrer completed an apprenticeship as a book and gravure printer and as a businessman. After working in the printing and publishing industry, he started his own business as a publishing clerk and became a co-owner of a publishing and advertising agency.
politics
Scherrer joined the SPD in 1962 and was elected to the Neuwied City Council in 1969. From 1975 to 1987 he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament . In the 1987 federal election, he was elected to the German Bundestag via the SPD's Rhineland-Palatinate state list , to which he was a member until August 31, 1990. In the Bundestag Scherrer was a full member of the Committee for Spatial Planning, Building and Urban Development.
From 1990 to 2000, Scherrer was Lord Mayor of Neuwied.
