Manfred Schmidt (born April 29, 1929 in Treptow an der Tollense ; † January 30, 2005 ) was a German theologian and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Schmidt studied Protestant theology in Greifswald , Göttingen and rugby . He moved to West Germany, first became pastor in Lüdenscheid and finally parish priest and pastor in Wuppertal - Elberfeld . At the same time he was involved in the work of the Pomeranians and was chairman of the convention of the former Protestant Eastern Churches until 1998.

Political party

During his studies, Schmidt joined the CDU and took part in the 1946 election campaign in the Soviet occupation zone . Later he was chairman of the CDU social committees (CDA) in the Bergisches Land , deputy chairman of the CDA Rhineland and for several years a member of the board of the Evangelical Working Group of the CDU Rhineland . Schmidt was a member of the Wuppertal city council from 1979.

MP

Schmidt was a member of the German Bundestag from January 17, 1975, when he replaced the departed MP Göke Frerichs , until 1980. He was always drawn into parliament via the state list of the CDU North Rhine-Westphalia .
