Manfred Scholle

Manfred Scholle (born September 18, 1946 in Berlin ) is a German lawyer . From 1991 to 1998 he was director of the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe (LWL).

After finishing school in Berlin, Manfred Scholle studied law and business administration at the universities of Berlin and Marburg from 1966. After completing his legal clerkship in Berlin, he was awarded a doctorate in 1973. jur. at the Philipps University in Marburg. From 1974 Scholle worked in the Berlin Senate Administration, among other things as personal advisor to the Senator for Science and Art and to the Governing Mayor of Berlin. In 1981 Scholle became a city councilor in Salzgitter , and in 1983 in Dortmund . In 1991 he was elected as the successor to Herbert Neseker as director of the Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe (LWL), which he held until 1998, when he was succeeded by Wolfgang Schäfer . During his work for the LWL, Scholle was chairman of the supervisory board of the event company "350 Years of Westphalia Peace" mbH.

After working for LWL, Scholle joined the board of VEW Energie AG, in which LWL was still involved at the time. In 2000, Scholle took over as CEO of RWE Gas AG , and from August 2004 until he retired in October 2011 he was CEO of Gelsenwasser AG . Scholle took part in numerous committees, including a member of the board of the Association of Municipal Enterprises . Until 2011, as chairman of the regional committee for the city of Gelsenkirchen, he was one of ten vice-presidents of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) North Westphalia . Scholle became known to a wider public through his public opposition to the planned gas extraction through fracking .

Scholle was particularly involved in the education sector, including through his involvement in the "Partners for Schools in North Rhine-Westphalia" foundation. Until 2007 he was a member of the board of trustees of today's TU Dortmund . Scholle is a member of the university council of the Fernuni Hagen . Scholle is a member of the advisory board of the Westphalia Initiative eV as chairman, and he is also a member of the board of the Economic Society for Westphalia and Lippe eV Since 2009 Scholle has been a part-time member of the church leadership of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia , which consists of seven main and eleven part-time members.

Honors

In 2002 Scholle received the Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany for his commitment to the common good. In 2014 he received the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, the award was presented by NRW Economics Minister Garrelt Duin . The upgrade was intended to recognize his commitment in the economic sector and his diverse voluntary activities.
