Manfred Todtenhausen (born December 8, 1950 in Wuppertal ) is a German politician ( FDP ) and a member of the German Bundestag .

Life and work

After attending school, Todtenhausen trained as an electrician from 1966 to 1970. He did his military service from 1970 to 1972 in Wolfenbüttel and Braunschweig . From 1972 to 1977 he was a journeyman in his training company. From 1977 he attended the master school at the HWK Düsseldorf, which he finished in 1978 as a master electrical engineer. He then worked until 1981 as operations manager and concession holder at an electrical company in Wuppertal. From 1981 to 1988 Todtenhausen was a self-employed master electrician, since 1988 he has been an electrician and managing director of Elektro Todtenhausen GmbH.

Manfred Todtenhausen was a member of the supervisory board of the “Wuppertaler Bau- und Sparverein eG” from 2004 to 2010, and has been a member of the board since 2010. He is married and has one son.

Manfred Todtenhausen is active in animal welfare. In 2004 he founded the animal emergency aid "Teckelhilfe-Dackel / Teckel in Not", which he still operates as an internet platform today.

Political party

Manfred Todtenhausen has been a member of the FDP since 2002. From 2003 to 2010 and from 2013 to today he is the FDP local branch chairman of the local branch Wuppertal-West and from 2006 to 2010 and since 2014 deputy district chairman of the FDP Wuppertal. Since 2006 Manfred Todtenhausen has also been deputy district chairman of the FDP district association in Düsseldorf.

From 2006 to 2011 Todtenhausen was state chairman of the Liberal Mittelstands NRW and deputy chairman of the Bundesvereinigung Liberaler Mittelstand eV He is a founding member of the Liberalen Mittelstands NRW.

Since 2013 he has been the deputy federal chairman of the “Liberale Handwerker eV” and since March 2018 deputy state chairman of the Liberal Seniors NRW.

MP

From October 2004 to October 2017 Manfred Todtenhausen was a city councilor in the city council of Wuppertal. From June 2014 he was deputy leader of the Free Democrats. From November 2009 to October 2017 he was chairman of the committee for order, safety and cleanliness and the ESW operating committee. Since November 2009 he has been a member of the supervisory board of the Gemeinnützige Wohnungsbaugesellschaft mbH (GWG) Wuppertal.

From May 2012 to October 2013 Todtenhausen was a member of the German Bundestag , where he was a full member of the Committee on Economics and Technology and the Petitions Committee. He replaced MP Paul Friedhoff , who had resigned his mandate for private reasons. Due to the failure of the FDP to pass the five percent hurdle , he was no longer represented in the 18th Bundestag .

Todtenhausen ran for the 19th Bundestag in the Bundestag constituency of Wuppertal I (constituency 102) . Since October 2017 he heard about the list position 16 of the NRW state list of FDP NRW the 19th Bundestag on. He is chairman of the Free Democrats in the Petitions Committee and a member of the Committee on Economics and Energy . He is a deputy member of the Committee for Construction, Housing, Urban Development and Municipalities as well as of the Study Commission "Vocational Training in the Digital Working World". He is vice chairman of the Eastern Africa parliamentary group.

Within the parliamentary group of the Free Democrats , he is the spokesman for petitions, chairman of the working group petitions and chairman of the working group for medium-sized businesses and crafts.
