Manfred Wandt

Manfred Wandt (* 1955 in Neuburg an der Donau ) is a German lawyer and professor at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

Life

Wandt studied law at the University of Mannheim from 1976 with temporary study visits to Paris and Strasbourg . In 1981 he passed his first state examination in law in Mannheim, followed by the second in 1984. Four years later he completed his doctorate, also in Mannheim. This work, like the habilitation in 1993, was awarded a Dr. Kurt Hamann Foundation honored. With his habilitation he acquired the venia legendi for the subjects civil law, private insurance law, international private law, European law and comparative law.

In 1994 he held his first full professorship at the University of Hanover , and in 1995 he moved to the University of Frankfurt am Main . There he has headed the then newly founded Institute for Insurance Law since 2003. From 2008 to 2012 he was first dean and later vice dean of the Frankfurt Faculty of Law.

Among other things, Manfred Wandt is a member of the German Association for Insurance Science and the Insurance Advisory Board of the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority . He belongs to the group of scientists who published the PEICL (Principles of European Insurance Contract Law).
