Manfred Weippert

Manfred Hermann Emil Weippert (born July 6, 1937 in Königsberg in Bavaria ) is a German Protestant theologian .

Life

After his doctorate in 1971 and his habilitation in 1971 with a combined dissertation / habilitation thesis ( Edom. Studies and materials on the history of the Edomites based on written and archaeological sources ) at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen , he taught there from 1971 as a private lecturer . In 1976 he became a full professor at the University of Utrecht . From 1983 to 1999 he taught as a professor for the Old Testament at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg .

Weippert was married to the retired Old Testament scholar Helga Weippert until her death in 2019 .
