Manfred Zeiner

Manfred Zeiner (born February 26, 1921 in Göttelborn , † March 12, 2005 in Göttelborn) was a German politician ( SPD ).

education and profession

After leaving school, Zeiner decided at the age of 15 in 1936 to go to the merchant marine ( Hapag ). When war broke out, he was captured on September 1, 1939 and interned first in the East Indies (from 1939 to 1942), then in Canada (from 1942 to 1946). After his return in 1946, he initially worked in agriculture and from 1947 worked underground in the Göttelborn and Camphausen mines. From 1957 to 1972 he was a member of the works council of the Göttelborn mine.

Political party

In 1953 Zeiner joined the SPD, which was still banned at the time, and worked with two other Social Democrats until the Saarland was annexed to the Federal Republic of Germany. After the parties were officially allowed in Saarland again, he was elected local club chairman of the SPD Göttelborn on October 1, 1955 and remained so until January 14, 1978. A few years later he was appointed honorary chairman of the SPD local club Göttelborn.

From 1955 to 1967 he was a member of the executive committee of the SPD sub-district Sulzbach , of which he was deputy chairman from 1967 to 1969. From 1974 to 1976 he was also deputy chairman of the SPD community association Quiigart .

From 1956 to 1973 he was a member of the Göttelborn SPD community council group, of which he was chairman between 1956 and 1963.

Public offices

On September 13, 1963 Zeiner was charged with 8 votes to 7 from Göttel Borner council to mayor elected the then independent municipality Göttelborn and became a member in Amtsrat Quierschied. He remained mayor until 1973 and after Göttelborn was incorporated into the municipality of Quiigart as part of the 1974 local government reform, Zeiner was elected mayor of Göttelborn by the local council on May 5, 1974 . From 1960 to 1975 he was also a member of the Saarland state parliament .

Others

From 1967 to 1974 he was chairman of the Göttelborn gymnastics club. Zeiner was also a founding member of the " Von der Höh " Göttelborn carnival club in 1964 .

Manfred Zeiner's son Peter is also a member of the SPD and was deputy mayor of Göttelborn from 1994 to 1999.
