Not far from there is the Mangyŏngdae Revolution Museum, which opened in 1970 on the 58th birthday of Kim Il-sung , in which some of the dictator's legacies from the time before the communist revolution are on display. At the highest point of Mangyŏng Hill stands a pavilion that serves as a vantage point of the Pyongyang skyline . You can also visit the grave of Kim Po Hyon, Kim Il-Sung's grandfather and Ri Po Ik, the grandmother.

In 1948, the local Kim Il-sung Military University started operations and is now considered the most important military university in North Korea. It is a secondary school for the training of officers of the Korean People's Army .
