Mannesmann Eurokom

Mannesmann Eurokom was a German mobile network operator that had a qualified majority in the D2 digital mobile network in the mid- 1990s .

The parent company Mannesmann , based in Düsseldorf , was one of the largest German industrial companies with a turnover of 28.0 billion DM and an annual profit of 63 million DM (1992).

Communications Network International (CNI), in which RWE Telliance and Deutsche Bank AG also held shares, was one of the subsidiaries of Mannesmann Eurokom . The telecommunications subsidiary took over a 49.8 percent stake in DBKom in July 1996 for just under DM 3 billion . When CNI was awarded the contract, the world's largest telecommunications company, AT&T , also gained access to the German market.

In addition to the alliance between RWE and Veba , which had existed since autumn 1996, Mannesmann was Telekom's main competitor on the deregulated telecommunications market in Germany after 1998.
