Manning is a town in the Canadian province of Alberta in Northern Lights County , about 73 km north of Peace River . Manning has 1493 inhabitants (as of 2006).
The village is known as the Land of the Mighty Moose . Manning's economy is largely dependent on agriculture , forestry and the sale of natural gas . The village was named in honor of Ernest Manning , Alberta's prime minister between 1943 and 1968. Originally the place was called Aurora.
