Manuel Batakian

Manuel Batakian ICPB (born November 5, 1929 in Athens ) was the Armenian Catholic Bishop of Our Lady of Nareg in New York .

Life

Manuel Batakian joined the religious order of the Institut du Clergé Patriarcal de Bzommar (ICPB) and was ordained a priest on December 8, 1954 . Pope John Paul II appointed him on November 11, 1994 titular bishop of Caesarea in Cappadocia degli Armeni and auxiliary bishop in the Patriarchate of Cilicia .

The Patriarch of Cilicia , John Bedros XVIII. Kasparian , also a member of the ICPB, donated him episcopal ordination on March 12 of the next year ; Co- consecrators were Grégoire Ghabroyan , Apostolic Exarch of France and member of the ICPB, and André Bedoglouyan , Patriarchal Exarch of Jerusalem and Amman .

On November 30, 2000, he was named Apostolic Exarch of the United States of America and Canada . Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Our Lady of Nareg in New York on September 12, 2005 . Batakin has been retired since May 21, 2011.
