Patriarchal Congregation of Bzommar

The Patriarchal Congregation of Bzommar ( English : Patriarchal Congregation Bzommar , abbreviation : ICPB ) is an institute of consecrated life and a religious community in the Armenian Catholic Church . The congregation is known by its French name, Institut du Clergé Patriarcal de Bzommar .

history

The first Patriarch of Cilicia Abraham Bedro I. Ardzivian (1679–1749) is considered to be the founder of the Patriarchal Order of Clergy . He founded after the Armenian Catholic Church in 1750 with Rome in union was in the monastery Kreim with some like-minded people a community. They lived in a fraternal monastery community and took a religious vow. His successor Hagop Bedros II. Hovsepian († 1753) continued the work, created special rules of the order and moved with the friars to Bzommar . Here they built the monastery that still exists today , to which the small seminary of the religious order belongs.

The rules of the order , which were last revised on February 24, 1986, prescribe that the members of the order should preach and preserve the Catholic faith for the Armenian nation . They should carry out their pastoral duties in the service and for the good of the patriarchate, the congregations and the mission .

Organization and structure

The Superior General of the Congregation is the Patriarch of Kilkilien . It is supported by a four-person committee that coordinates the spiritual tasks, administers the finances and designs the organizational process. The congregation currently (as of 2010) includes two patriarchs, seven bishops , two monks and 36 religious priests . These work in Lebanon , the USA , France , Syria , Canada , Iran , Georgia , Greece , Jordan , the Holy Land , Australia , Turkey , Argentina , Italy , Armenia and Russia . In addition to the large seminary in Bzommar, for all priests of the Armenian Catholic Church, the congregation also has a small religious seminary, also in Bzommar, and a seminary in Aleppo . The order is the publisher of the magazine "Zvartnots".
