Emmanuel Dabbaghian

Emmanuel Dabbaghian ICPB (born December 26, 1933 in Aleppo , Syria , † September 13, 2018 ) was a Syrian clergyman and Armenian Catholic Archbishop of Baghdad .

Life

Emmanuel Dabbaghian joined the religious order of the Institut du Clergé Patriarcal de Bzommar and was ordained a priest on December 25, 1967 . The Synod of the Armenian Catholic Church appointed him Archbishop of Baghdad and Pope Benedict XVI on September 13, 2006 . confirmed this appointment on January 26 of the following year.

The Patriarch of Cilicia , Nerses Bedros XIX. , ordained him bishop on August 4th of the next year ; Co- consecrators were Jean Teyrouz ICPB, Curia Bishop in Cilicia, and Nechan Karakéhéyan ICPB, Ordinary of Eastern Europe .

On October 9, 2017, Pope Francis accepted Emmanuel Dabbaghian's request to resign on grounds of age.
