Manuel Enrique Pérez Díaz

Manuel Enrique Pérez Díaz (born July 6, 1911 , † May 31, 1984 ) was a Venezuelan guitarist , composer and music teacher .

Pérez emerged as a composer mainly with works for guitar and songs with guitar accompaniment. With Antonio Lauro , Eduardo Serrano and Marco Tulio Maristani he formed Los Cantores del Trópico , which toured Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile and Argentina in the 1940s. In Caracas , he taught classical guitar from 1960 as the successor to Raúl Borges at the Escuela de Música y Declamación . His students included Francisco Zapata Bello , Alexandro Rodríguez , Juan Luis Torres , Leopoldo Igarza and Felipe Montagutelli . Díaz was married to the actress Amalia Pérez Díaz .
