Manuel Fröhlich

Manuel Fröhlich (* 1972 ) is a German political scientist and professor . Since 2015 he has held the chair for international relations and foreign policy at the University of Trier .

Life

From 1991 to 1996 Fröhlich studied Political Science, Medieval and Modern History and English at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt . From 1993 to 1995 he worked on a project with Werner Weidenfeld at the University of Mainz. In 1996 he received his Magister Artium with the title “With Distinction”. From 1996 to 2001 he was a lecturer at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . From 1996 to 1998 he received a scholarship from the Claussen Foundation for the research project "Dag Hammarskjölds political ethics". From 1998 to 2001 he was a research assistant at the University of Jena and also deputy head of the research project “The History of the Impact of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights”, under the direction of Klaus Dicke . In 2000 he was awarded his doctorate summa cum laude .

In 2002 Fröhlich was offered a junior professorship for political science at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel and a junior professorship for political science at the University of Jena, the latter he accepted. In 2009 he received the professorship for international organizations and globalization in Jena. Since 2015 he has held the chair for international relations and foreign policy at the University of Trier.

Fröhlich has been chairman of the German Society for Political Science since 2017 .
