Manuel Marinho Alves

Manuel Marinho Alves , known by the stage name Maneca (born January 28, 1926 in Salvador da Bahia , † June 28, 1961 in Rio de Janeiro ) was a Brazilian football player . The striker was a member of the Brazilian national team at the 1950 World Cup in Brazil.

During his football career, which lasted from 1943 to 1957, he played for the clubs Galícia Esporte Clube, EC Vitória , CR Vasco da Gama and Bangu AC . He won the state championship of the state of Rio de Janeiro four times. He won the forerunner of the Copa Libertadores the Campeonato Sudamericano de Campeones in 1948. Later he won the Bahia State Championship (so-called: Campeonato Baiano ) three times.

He was already a member of the Brazilian national team at the Copa América 1949 , but was not used as a substitute. He played four games in the 1950 World Cup in Brazil and scored one goal in a 7-1 win over Sweden. Overall, his stakes for the Seleção are limited to six games, all of which took place in 1950.
