Manuel Rosas Sánchez (born April 17, 1912 in Mexico City , † February 20, 1989 ), also known by the nickname Chaquetas , was a Mexican football player .

Manuel Rosas was born as the son of Manuel Rosas Guzmán and Luz Sánchez . He was the oldest of ten brothers. At the club level, Rosas played for the Mexican club Atlante in the 1930s . With his long-time club, he won the Primera Fuerza in the 1931/32 season , the most important soccer league in Mexico at the time. At the same time that Manuel Rosas was working for Atlante, his brothers Felipe Rosas and Juan "Chundara" Rosas also worked there .

National team

Rosas was a member of the Mexican national soccer team and took part with her in the first soccer world championship in 1930 . There he scored the first own goal in World Cup history in the group game against Chile, which was lost 3-0. Rosas appeared in three games and scored two goals for his home country in his team's 6-3 loss to Argentina.

At the age of 18, Felipe Rosas' brother was the youngest ever goal scorer at a soccer World Cup and was also able to convert the first penalty in World Cup history. To date, Manuel Rosas is the second youngest scorer in a World Cup after Pelé , followed by Michael Owen and Lionel Messi .
