The Maoling mausoleum (also Maoling tomb, Chinese  茂陵 , Pinyin Màolíng ) is the tomb of the Han emperor Wu (Hàn Wǔdì 汉 武帝), who lived in the Western Han dynasty from 141-87 BC. Ruled. It is the largest of the " Five Mausoleums " (wǔlíng 五 陵) of the Western Han Dynasty (Xi Han wuling 西汉 五 陵) and is also known as the "Pyramid of the East" (东方 金字塔).

The grave is 40 km away from the provincial capital Xi'an near the village of Maoling, town of Nanwei, in the northeast of today's city of Xingping (兴平 市) in the area of ​​the prefecture-level city of Xianyang in Shaanxi Province in the People's Republic of China .

Construction of the tomb began in 139 BC. And lasted 53 years. The wall surrounding the grave has an almost square base. The east-west extension is 431 m and the north-south extension 415 m. The wall is 5.8 meters thick. In the middle of each wall section there is a gate. The grave itself has the shape of a truncated pyramid with a height of 46.5 m and a maximum extension at the base of 240 m. According to historical records, the emperor is said to have used a third of the tax revenue for the construction of the tomb and its gifts, which are now exhibited in the Maoling Museum.

Around the mausoleum there are more than 20 other graves of the wives and concubines of the emperor and the ministers. These subsidiary graves include the tomb of General Huo Qubing , the tomb of General Wei Qing, and the tomb of Jin Midi, which are located about one kilometer east of the main tomb. The Maoling Museum is also located here.

The Maoling Mausoleum has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (1-165) since 1961 .
