history

Foundation & dissolution

The band was founded in 1985 under the name Ace and consisted of guitarists Marko Siekkinen and Ilkka Heino, drummer Ville Hyry, bassist Mika Karppinen and singer Petri Puolitaival. Together they recorded their first demo, Sacred to the Memory of Ace . Around the same time, they changed their name to Maple Cross. Singer Puolitaival left the band and was replaced by Marco R. Järkkä. At the end of 1988 the band recorded their second demo Thirteen Witches ... But One of Them at Soundmix Studios . Shortly after the release, Mika Karppinen was replaced by bassist Nico Christian.

In the following months tours and the development of new songs followed, which resulted in the third demo Sacrificed Humanity towards the end of 1989 . A saxophone could be heard for the first time at the demo . More touring and work on new tracks followed until the demo The Fourth and Last was released in 1990. In addition to the usual instruments, this album featured a saxophone, a piano and a mouth organ . As a result, the band toured Finland and Denmark . In 1991, the self-financed debut album The Eighth Day of Creation was released. The 5th for Us demo was released in the summer, but it was not intended for the public. It wasn't until the summer of 1993 that another public demo called Uncontrolled Art was released. In 1994 another demo followed called Cool Maggots . After the release, the band went on tour for a few years until they finally broke up. Up until this point, the band had performed with bands such as Darkthrone , Prestige , Mengele , ARG , Invocator , Hybrid Children , Waltari and Backyard Babies .

Start-up

Towards the end of 2000 the band got back together. The group consisted of the guitarists Late TT and Sami Siekkinen, singer Marco R. Järkkä and bassist Ollari. A little later, a suitable drummer was found in Aki Karppinen. In summer 2001 they played together for the first time. Together they began work on the album Next Chapter , which resulted in the first two promo demos. Several appearances followed in the summer of 2002. After that, the band continued to write new material, so that on January 24, 2003, recordings for the album began. The name Next Chapter came from ex-drummer Ville Hyry and was released that same year. The rest of the year tours of Finland and Great Britain followed , as well as filming a music video for the song Au Revoir .

Then bassist Ollari left the band, who was followed a short time later by guitarists Late TT and Sami Siekkinen. Avather and Juha Henttunen joined the line-up as new guitarists, and Sami joined the band as the new bass player. In 2004 further tours through Finland and Great Britain followed. In August the band played at the Jalometalli Festival , which was the final appearance for drummer Aki Karppinen. He was replaced by Ilkka Leskelä. Shortly afterwards, bassist Sami left the band and was replaced by Joni Lehto. This was followed by other appearances, including as an opening act for Cannibal Corpse . After performing in November, the band took a break. In mid-December the band got back together, Avather announced his departure and was replaced by Sami Siekkinen. Together they worked on new material, which resulted in the new album Heimo , which was released in 2007.

style

The band plays classic Thrash Metal, with some influences from the crossover being audible. For comparison, bands like Suicidal Tendencies and Dirty Rotten Imbeciles are named.
