ARG ( acronym for initially Aku Raaska Group , later Anarchy Rules Games , currently Ancient Rotten Graveguards ) is a Finnish thrash metal band from Kuusamo , which was founded in 1987, dissolved in 1994 and re-founded in 2011.

history

The band was founded in 1987 by guitarist Jari Kelloniemi, drummer Pasi Takkula and singers Tepa Karjalainen and Aku Raaska. Together they recorded the first demo Broken Marshall , on which Kelloniemi also took over the bass. The demo was released that same year. The first appearance took place in a school in Kuusamo. The bass was taken over by Jari Aho. A short time later Vesa Säkkinen joined the line-up as the second guitarist. At the same time, singer Raaska left the band. In the changed line-up, they took on another Demo Heathenism in Penitentiary , which was released in 1988 and 300 pieces of which could be sold.

After the demo another gig in Kuusamo followed, which increased the sales figures of the demo again. Then the band went to Oulu for a band contest. Before that they played a concert in Pudasjärvi and Oulu. The band won the contest and received the opportunity to record a single as a prize. To record the single Aggressive Confessor , the band and producer Mara Mäntyniemi went to a recording studio in Oulu. The recordings lasted two days. After the release in 1988 several appearances followed in Oulu, Kemi , Tornio and Kajaani . This was later followed by a major gig in Oulu, where the group opened up for Stone . Due to the success of the album, the band reached a contract with Megamania Records . The band recorded their debut album in Helsinki and released it in 1989. Several appearances followed, including a week-long tour of Finland with Stone and Airdash .

The EP Back to Life was produced by Niksu Nikula and Antti Mommo and released in 1990. This was followed by appearances at the Nummirock Metal Festival , the Kuusrock and the Giants of Rock . After the performances, the band worked on the next album, which was released in 1991 under the name One World Without the End . After the recordings, drummer Pasi Takkula left the band and was replaced by Tapani Kokko. Further appearances and work on new songs followed. The next member Tepa Karjalainen left the band after being heard on two more demos. Vesa Säkkinen now took up the post of singer. Work on more songs followed. Jarkko Poussu joined the band as the new bass player. The band broke up in 1994 and reunited in 2011.

style

The band plays classic thrash metal. The songs are compared to the early works of Testament .
