María Barranco (born June 11, 1961 in Málaga ; actually María de los Remedios Barranco García ) is a Spanish actress.

Barranco originally studied medicine, but dropped out because of her acting career. From 1982 to 2004 Barranco was with the director Imanol Uribe together. Their daughter was born in 1993.

Barranco twice won the Goya as Best Supporting Actress : in 1989 for her role in Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios and 1991 for Ay Carmela! - song of freedom . She was nominated for best supporting actress three more times: 1990 ( Las cosas del querer ), 1992 ( El rey Pasmado ) and 1994 ( La ardilla roja ).
