María Rojo (full name: María de Lourdes Rojo e Incháustegui ; born August 15, 1943 in Mexico City ) is an important Mexican actress . She is also a member of the Partido de la Revolución Democrática and has been a member of the Mexican Senate since 2006 .

life and work

María Rojo began her acting career in the television series Teatro fantástico in 1955. A year later she starred for the first time in a movie in Besos Prohibidos . Further appearances in television series followed. In the 1970s, she played increasingly in movies such as Los cachorros and El apando . In 1979 she played the leading role in Jaime Humberto Hermosillo's film María de mi corazón . In the 1980s she worked mainly as an actress for the cinema. Rojo played the main role in Rojo amanecer in 1989 , for which she won her only Premio Ariel in 1991 . In 1991 she starred in the successful film The Homework , which helped her rise to become one of the most important Mexican actresses. The sequel shot in 1992 could not repeat the success. In 1991 she played for it in María Novaro's film danzón , which was successful. She was honored for her portrayal in him.
