María del Carmen González Ramos
María del Carmen González Ramos ( religious name : María del Carmen del Niño Jesús) (born June 30, 1834 in Antequera , Spain ; † November 9, 1899 there) was a Spanish nun and founder of the order .
Life
María del Carmen González Ramos married Joaquín Muñoz del Caño at the age of 22, but the difficult marriage remained childless. After she was widowed in 1881, she devoted herself to childcare in a St. Vincent conference . She later built a school in her own home. On May 8, 1884, she moved into a convent with four other young women. This date is considered to be the foundation of the Hermanas Franciscanas de los Sagrados Corazones (German about Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Hearts). Pope Leo XIII. gave the papal approbation in 1902. The congregation spread mainly in Spain, was also able to establish branches in Uruguay, Nicaragua and other South American countries. Today she has about 300 sisters. The parent company is located in Antequera.
María del Carmen González was beatified on May 6, 2007 . Her feast day in the liturgy is May 8th .
