María del Monte Carmelo (birth name: Maria Carmela Salles y Barangueras , born April 9, 1848 in Vic , Spain , † July 25, 1911 in Madrid ) was a Catholic founder.

Maria Carmela, whose religious name was Maria del Monte Carmelo, founded the Congregation of Missionaries of the Immaculate Conception of Mary in Burgos in 1892 for teaching , which is mainly concerned with the formation of women. In the same year the Archbishop of Burgos gave the community its first ecclesiastical confirmation and elected Maria del Monte Carmelo as Superior General for life.

She was beatified by Pope John Paul II in March 1998 . Her liturgical feast day is December 6th.

On October 21, 2012, she was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI.
