The Marahoué (also Red Bandama) is a river in the Ivory Coast .
course
It is the second largest tributary (or second source river) of the Bandama (White Bandama) after the N'Zi . It has a length of 550 km and rises as Kahoua near Boundiali . In the city of Mankono, he changes his name to Marahoué. The information regarding its catchment area is between 21,600 and 24,300 km². The river runs from north to south, like most rivers in Ivory Coast. Its most important tributary, the Yarani , runs parallel to it for a long stretch about 30 km to the west , and not far from its mouth it changes its name to the town of Séguéla in Baneroni. At Zuenoula it takes on its second important tributary, the Béré . About 15 km south of the Kossousees , and 30 km northwest of Yamoussoukro it flows into the Bandama.
Hydrometry
The flow rate of the river was measured in the 1950s and 1960s in Bouaflé for most of the catchment area in m³ / s.
The runoff has decreased a lot since the 1970s. In more recent publications, the mean discharge is given as half.
