Marat Ospanov

Marat Turdybekuly Ospanow ( Kazakh Марат Тұрдыбекұлы Оспанов , Russian Марат Турдыбекович Оспанов * 17th September 1949 in Aktyubinsk , Kazakhstan SSR ; † 23. January 2000 in Almaty , Kazakhstan ) was a Kazakh politician.

Life

Marat Ospanow was born in Aktyubinsk in 1949 and attended school there. He studied at the Plekhanov Institute of Economics in Moscow , where he graduated in 1971. Between 1971 and 1972 he did military service in the Soviet army .

From 1973 he worked as a teacher for political economy at the Medical Institute in Aktyubinsk before he then completed postgraduate studies at the Kazakh State Kirov University in Alma-Ata from November 1976 to December 1979 . In the following years he again taught at the Medical Institute in Aktyubinsk. In 1990 Ospanov began to be politically active. He became a member of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR, where he was one of the founders and co-chair of the “Democratic Kazakhstan” faction. He was involved in drawing up the Kazakh declaration of independence. In the following year he became vice-chairman of the Committee on Economic Reform, Budget and Finance of the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR. Between 1991 and 1992 he was deputy head of the Kazakh Tax Inspectorate and from November 1992 to March 1994 he was the country's first deputy finance minister. He then became Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of Kazakhstan from April 1994 to March 1995 and Chairman of the Committee on the Use of Foreign Capital in the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan from April to October 1995. After the first Kazakh parliamentary elections in 1995, Ospanov was a member of the Maschilis , where he was chairman between January 30, 1996 and December 1, 1999. After the 1999 election, he was a Member of Parliament's Committee on Finance and Budget.

Ospanov died in Almaty on January 23, 2000.
