Marble Bar is a small town in the Pilbara Region in northern Western Australia, 218 kilometers southeast of Port Hedland . According to experts, it is considered the hottest place in the world; the place describes itself on the advertising signs at the entrance to the town, however, only as "Hottest town in Australia" (hottest town in Australia). From October 31, 1923 to April 7, 1924, the temperature reached 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37.8 degrees Celsius) every day. In December and January, temperatures of 45 degrees Celsius are considered normal and the average maximum daily temperature remains above 37 degrees Celsius for six months of the year.
Marble Bar differs from other "hotspots" in that it is not in any particular geographical location that could cause such deviations in temperature.
The name Marble Bar ( marble : Eng. Marble ) is derived from the local jasper formation, which was mistaken for marble by the first settlers.
