The Marburger Kreis  (MK) is a working group of Christians from different denominations and professions. It is represented in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

His work is rooted in the work of the German-American theologian Frank Buchman and continued in the group movement, such as B. the Oxford Group in the 1930s, continued in Germany. After the Second World War, restarted by Arthur Richter , the work of the Marburger Kreis grew and finally resulted in the establishment of a registered association in 1957. The name Marburger Kreis comes from the location of the founding meeting, Marburg .

The work in the 1950s and 1960s was classified by some religious scholars as one of many preliminary stages of the charismatic movement in Germany. Some representatives of the charismatic movement emerged from the Marburg district, for example Arnold Bittlinger , Wolfram Kopfermann , Albrecht zu Castell-Castell or Wilhard Becker .

The association has around 4,300 employees in Germany who meet regularly in around 450 local groups, 500 employees with around 50 groups in Switzerland and some groups in Austria. With the exception of a few employees at the Würzburg headquarters, all work is voluntary. The work of the Marburger Kreis is financed exclusively through donations.

The association is based in Würzburg .

The association is a member of the Missionary Services Working Group in the Diaconal Work of the Evangelical Church in Germany . He is close to the German Evangelical Alliance . In addition, the Marburger Kreis is a partner in the Willow Creek network .

The youth work is called crossover and annually organizes a large number of youth camps and other events for teenagers and young adults. The band “Crossing” emerged from “crossover” and plays Christian rock.
