Wolfram Kopfermann

Wolfram Kopfermann (born January 2, 1938 in Beverungen ; † November 21, 2018 in Hamburg ) was a German theologian and founder of the Free Church of Anskar and theological author.

Live and act

Kopfermann studied Protestant theology in Bethel , Heidelberg and Erlangen as well as sociology in Heidelberg, Erlangen and Nuremberg . From 1963 to 1969 he was a research assistant at the seminar for systematic theology at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . Among other things, he was part of the Marburg district . He then worked in the vicariate in Büchenbach near Erlangen, then also in parish service in Bavaria, later as a pastor at the main church St. Petri in Hamburg. Here he experienced a so-called spiritual awakening in the 1980s , which he helped to shape. His charismatic Sunday evening church services were attended by around 1,000 Protestant Christians. From 1978 to 1988 Kopfermann was head of the spiritual renewal of the Evangelical Church in Germany . The “Basic Course of Faith” developed by him is still carried out in many parishes in Germany today. In 1988 he resigned from his position as pastor in the St. Petri Church, resigned from the Evangelical Lutheran regional church and founded the Free Church of Anskar in Hamburg , which he has led since then.

Today the Anskar Church in Germany is a nationwide free church with parishes in Hamburg , Marburg , Bad Arolsen , Offenbach and Wetzlar as well as its own theological training center for full-time employees, the Anskar College .

In January 2008, Kopfermann handed over the management of the Hamburg-Mitte community to Tillmann Krüger.

Kopfermann was also the author of several theological books on the subject of church formation, church renewal and church departure.

Private

Kopfermann had been married to his wife Dietlinde since 1963. The couple has two sons, one of them the Christian musician Arne Kopfermann .
