Mark Chung (born June 3, 1957 in Leeds , England ) is a German musician and music publisher . He became known as the bass player in the Einstürzende Neubauten group .

Live and act

Chung is the son of a Chinese doctor and a German nurse. He grew up in England, Jamaica and Germany. From 1980 he played bass with the band Abwärts ( Hamburg ) until he became bassist for the band Einstürzende Neubauten ( Berlin ) in early 1982 . Chung left Einstürzende Neubauten after recording the album Faustmusik in 1994 and concentrated on his work in the music industry .

In 1984, Chung founded a music publisher, Freibank Music Publishing . The copyrights of Einstürzende Neubauten and meanwhile numerous other artists are exercised by Freibank Music Publishing. In 1996 he moved to London as Senior Vice President of Sony Music Entertainment International . In 2005, Mark Chung, after nine years at Sony, according to Germany returned to the management of the free bank and opened in Berlin a second branch. From 2006 to 2012, Mark Chung was also chairman of the board of the VUT Association of Independent Sound Carriers, Music Publishers and Music Producers and has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Initiative Musik gGmbH since 2007 .

Mark Chung is married with two sons and a daughter.
