Marc Pierre Detton (* 20th February 1901 in Thorigny-sur-Marne , † 24. January 1977 in Paris ) was a French rower who in 1924 Olympic silver medalist, double sculls was.

Athletic career

Detton rowed for the Société d'Encouragement du Sport Nautique in Nogent-sur-Marne . At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924, he competed in a single and with Jean-Pierre Stock in a double scull. In the one he finished second behind the Australian Arthur Bull . In the repechage he was second behind the British Jack Beresford and was eliminated. In the double scull, Detton and Stock finished in second place behind Paul Costello and John B. Kelly from the United States. In the final, the Americans won by four seconds over the French. About ten lengths behind the French, the Swiss Rudolf Bosshard and Heinrich Thoma won the bronze medal.

At the European Championships in 1922 Detton was third in the single behind Rudolf Bosshard and the Belgian Felix Taymans , two years later he won the silver medal behind the Swiss Josef Schneider . In a double scull, Detton and Stock won the European Championships in 1925 ahead of the Swiss Rudolf Bosshard and Max Schmid . Detton was also a French champion at least once.
