Marc Lavoie

Marc Lavoie (born April 29, 1954 in Ottawa , Ontario ) is a Canadian economist and university professor. He was a fencer in the Canadian national team and took part in the Olympic Games.

Scientific career

Marc Lavoie received his doctorate from the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and has been teaching at the Department of Economics at the University of Ottawa since 1979 , where he is a professor. His research interests lie in the area of heterodox economics schools , in particular post-Keynesianism , macroeconomics , economic growth , economics of sport, and monetary theory and policy . In addition to a three-digit number of articles in professional journals , he has written several books, including Post-Keynesian Economics: New Foundations (2014), Introduction to Post-Keynesian Economics (2006, translated into four languages) and Foundations of Post-Keynesian Economic Analysis (1992). Together with Wynne Godley , he wrote the textbook Monetary Economics: An Integrated Approach to Money, Income, Production and Wealth (2007), which deals with stock-flow consistent models and has elaborated Godley's work since the early 1990s. He works as an editor a. a. at European Journal of Economics and Economic Policies: Intervention , Review of Keynesian Economics, Revista de Economia Critica, Investigacion Economia and International Journal of Pluralism and Economics Education.

Fencing career

After success in the French and Canadian youth championships, he won the Canadian championships in saber fencing a total of seven times in 1975-79 and 1985-86 . Between 1973 and 1984 he was in the Canadian national team and took part in the Pan-American Games in 1975, 1979 and 1983, where he won the individual competition in 1979. He participated in the Commonwealth Championships in 1974 (4th), 1978 (2nd) and 1982, as well as in the Summer Olympics in 1976 and 1984 .
