Marc Van Craen

Marc Van Craen (* 1946 ) is a Belgian diplomat (retired).

Life

Van Craen studied East Asian Studies (BA 1973) and International Politics (MA 1975) - both degrees from Sophia University Tokyo .

From 1977 in the foreign service of the kingdom, he was employed as cultural attaché at the Belgian embassies in Tokyo and Beijing . From September 1990 to August 1994 he was Deputy Permanent Representative of Belgium to the United Nations in Geneva . From 1994 he held a number of ambassadorial posts: from August 1994 to September 1996 he served as the Belgian ambassador to Burundi , then from October 1996 to May 1998 in Indonesia , from September 2005 to July 2009 in Denmark and from September 2009 to September 2011 in the Switzerland .
