Marcel Augusto Ortolan (born November 12, 1981 in Mirassol , São Paulo ) is a former Brazilian soccer player.

Career

society

The 1.87 meter tall striker began his career in 1999 with Coritiba FC . In 2000 he was accepted into the first team. After three years he was able to record 49 league appearances and 20 goals. In 2004 he moved to Suwon Samsung Bluewings in South Korea for a season . From 2004 to 2006 he played a total of 23 league games and scored 13 goals.

In 2006 he signed a contract with the Portuguese club Benfica Lisbon , with which he was only seven times on the pitch in five years, as he was awarded to various clubs in the following years. In the same year Marcel moved on loan to league rivals Sporting Braga , for whom he was able to score a goal in ten league games. He spent the 2006/07 season at FC São Paulo , where it only made three league appearances without scoring. In 2007 he was awarded to Gremio Porto Alegre , where he scored five goals in 17 league games. After a short interlude at Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte without a competitive game, he returned to Gremio Porto Alegre in 2008. This time he was able to score nine times in 29 games.

After a few years in Brazil, Marcel switched to the Japanese club Vissel Kobe on loan in 2009 , where he played ten league games and scored three goals. After the season in Japan he turned his back on Benfica Lisbon and signed a contract with FC Santos , in which he played 13 league games and scored five goals. After playing for CR Vasco da Gama in 2011 and making a comeback with Suwon Samsung Bluewings (11 games / 3 goals), he returned to his hometown club Coritiba FC. During this season he managed one goal in twelve league games.

After playing for Mirassol FC and Criciúma EC in 2013 , Marcel ended his active football career.

In 2003 he completed eight international matches for the Brazilian U-23 national team , in which he scored three goals.
